Jan. 11, 2013
In preparation for the 2013 UCA & UDA College Cheerleading and Dance Team National Championship, the Kansas spirit squad will perform its routines on Sunday, Jan. 13 in the Horejsi Family Athletics Center. The event, free and open to the public, is scheduled to run from 4-6 p.m.
Considered by some to be the most prestigious college cheerleading championship in the country, the 2013 Championship will be held Jan. 18 - 20 at the Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Fla. After a two-year hiatus, the Rock Chalk Dancers are returning to the national competition stage. Meanwhile, the KU cheer squad looks to continue working its way up among the country’s best teams, as the Jayhawks finished in 10th place in the Division I Cheer Finals in 2012.
Following the cheer and dance routines, the Kansas spirit squad will depart for the competition in Orlando. Results from next week’s competition will be posted on KUAthletics.com after the event.
