Mims Advances To Finals of 800-Meters

Sacramento, Calif. - Senior Jeremy Mims will compete in the finals of the 800-meters, after finishing second in his heat and fourth overall in the semi-finals of the event at the 2005 NCAA Outdoor Championships in Sacramento, Calif. Mims finished the semi-final round with a time of 1:48.14. Senior Amy Linnen and freshman Ekaterina Sultanova tied for first with nine other competitors in the pole vaul with a best vault of 13-05.75. Two other Jayhawk competitors were in action on Thursday. Senior thrower Jen Widerstrom placed 19th in the qualifying round of the hammer throw. Widerstrom ended her All-Big 12 season with a new school record throw of 185-00. Junior Sheldon Battle placed 10th in the qualifying rounds of the discus with a throw of 181-02.
