KU Recruit Geubelle Excels at USATF Junior Olympic Track and Field Championships

Kansas track and field signee Andrea Geubelle added another gold medal to her collection after a first place finish at the 2009 USATF Junior Olympic Track and Field Championships in Greensboro, N.C. Geubelle, a native of University Place, Wash., jumped 12.45 meters (40-10.25 feet) in the triple jump to capture the title in the Young Women division. She competed against 34 other JO qualifiers, winning the event by more than five inches. Earlier this summer, Geubelle was crowned champion at the Nike Outdoor Nationals in the long jump and triple jump. She is also a three-time state champion in both events.
