Will serve as a student assistant coach this season after competing for the Jayhawks as a backup catcher last year. Mitchell will assist volunteer assistant Kevin Frady with the catchers this year. In addition to his season at KU, Mitchell played two years at De Anza Community College in California. He was named the De Anza College Male Scholar Athlete of the Year in 2007. Prior to his time at De Anza, he lettered twice in baseball for head coach David Kawamoto, Jr. at Cupertino High School. While at Cupertino, he was named SCUAL All-League Honorable Mention as well as team MVP as a senior. He also lettered in soccer. Mitchell is majoring in exercise science at KU, and would like to go into coaching someday. |
