HILO, Hawaii -

Senior Kyle Murphy homered and collected a career-high four RBIs Friday as the University of Kansas took the first game of a doubleheader from Hawaii-Hilo, 12-0 at Wong Memorial Stadium.

 

KU improves to 2-0, while UHH drops to 0-6 on the season.

 

Murphy was one of three Jayhawks to enjoy a multi-hit contest, going 2-for-3 with a double and a home run. Freshman Robby Price went 2-for-4 with a two-run double in the second inning, while junior Casey Larson also chipped in a pair of hits and scored three times.

 

KU starter Nick Czyz struck out seven in 4 1/3 innings to earn his first victory of the season.


 

 


The Jayhawks and Vulcans will play game two of the doubleheader beginning at roughly 10 p.m. CST (6 p.m. Hawaii time).
