LAWRENCE, Kan. -

Sophomore Zac Elgie went 3-for-3 with a homer, a triple and four RBIs, while junior Tony Thompson collected his first hit of the season - a bases loaded triple - to lead Kansas past Baker University, 16-0 in a game that was shortened to five innings due to rain.

The Jayhawks earn their seventh home victory of the season, and improve to 13-8 overall, while the Wildcats fall to 7-10.

Elgie, who entered the game mired in a season-long slump, matched a career high with three hits in the contest. His three-run homer in the bottom of the third inning broke the contest wide open as Kansas scored 11 runs in its final two at bats.

Thompson collected four RBIs in the game, coming up twice with the bases loaded and delivering both times. He recorded a two-out walk in the third inning and tripled to right field in the fourth.

Senior Robby Price also had two hits in the game, including his first triple of the season, and scored three runs as the Kansas bats produced season highs in runs and RBIs. Sophomore Jason Brunansky also scored a career-high four runs in the game.

On the mound, freshman Thomas Taylor picked up the win, going three innings and allowing no runs on no hits with four walks and three strikeouts.

The Jayhawks will move on to open their Big 12 schedule in Waco, Texas this weekend. KU and Baylor will meet in a three-game series beginning Friday at 3 p.m. at Baylor Ballpark. Audio from all three games in the set will be available via internet broadcast at www.kuathletics.com.
