Missouri State Downs Kansas, 7-2
March 27, 2007 SPRINGFIELD, Mo. - Senior Kyle Murphy went 2-for-4 with his third home run of the season, but it was not enough as Missouri State downed the University of Kansas, 7-2 Tuesday night in a non-conference game at Hammonds Field. The Bears improve to 13-9 overall, while the Jayhawks fall to .500 at 15-15. Murphy collected two of KU's four hits in the game, while starting pitcher Andres Esquibel had two rough innings, but retired 12 straight in-between. The junior righty worked six innings, scattering six hits and five earned runs, while striking out four. MSU scored two more runs off the KU bullpen on a bloop single and a wild pitch to stretch the lead to 7-1 in the seventh.
Kansas answered by loading the bases in the eighth, but could only muster a run on a wild pitch by reliever Buddy Baumann.
