Baseball Sunflower Showdown
KU Baseball vs. Texas

May 7, 2005

Starter Mike Zagurski gave KU another sterling performance on the mound Saturday evening.

Zagurski was congratulated after striking out two Texas hitters to work out of a jam.

Ryne Price fired a throw to first to complete a double play.

Jared Schweitzer watched his fourth-inning home run leave Hoglund Ballpark to give the junior a record-breaking 22 game hit streak.

First base coach Kevin Tucker congratulated Schweitzer as he rounded first.

Schweitzer was greeted by Matt Baty after touching home.

Shortstop Ritchie Price fired a throw to third to catch a Texas runner between second and third.

A wide slide kept Ryne Price from making the initial tag in the rundown.

A dive back to the bag ended the play without an out.

With the game on ESPNU a second night, Coach Ritch Price was interviewed in the dugout between innings.

Erik Morrison lashed a single in the sixth inning to drive in Sean Richardson and give KU a 2-1 lead.

Matt Baty signaled Sean Richardson to slide into home with the lead run.

Richardson then turned to watch the umpires call out Morrison on an interference call.

Coach Price and assistant Kevin Tucker pleaded their case to the umpire.

After lightning and rain forced a weather delay in the eigth inning, the two coaches agreed on a 11 a.m. Sunday resumption of the game.
