LAWRENCE, Kan. - Kansas pitchers allowed just 13 earned runs over a 62-inning span as the Jayhawk baseball team wrapped up its fall practice schedule with three scrimmages at Hoglund Ballpark over the weekend.

Jayhawk seniors Tanner Poppe and Thomas Taylor, junior Jordan Piche' as well as freshman Tyler Watson all turned in seven inning starts to highlight the effort. Poppe was most impressive, allowing just one run on two hits with two walks and seven strikeouts in his seven-inning outing. Sophomore reliever Conner Murray also tossed six scoreless innings out of the bullpen in Saturday's game.

At the plate, sophomore outfielder Michael Suiter recorded a pair of two-hit games, while senior Alex DeLeon went 4-for-10 with two doubles, two RBIs and two walks in the three contests.

"I'm pleased with the progress we made as a team over past two months," Kansas head coach Ritch Price said. "If we continue to work hard and make progress over the next month, we will be ready to compete in the Big 12 Conference this spring."

Per NCAA rules, Kansas was allowed 45 days of practice during the fall. The team can now hold 10 more practices in preparation for the foreign tour to the Dominican Republic. KU is planning to work out three times per week leading up the week of final exams. The Jayhawks head to the Dominican Republic on Dec. 15.

"I know our players are excited and looking forward to trip," said Price. "Playing in the Dominican Republic will be a great learning experience."
