Kuntz, Moroney Lead Jayhawk Baseball Scrimmages
Nov. 13, 2012 LAWRENCE, Kan. – Senior shortstop Kevin Kuntz went 6-for-10 with a run scored, while sophomore Joe Moroney collected four hits, scored four runs and collected a stolen base as Kansas baseball held two more scrimmages last week at Hoglund Ballpark.
Kuntz’ six hits led all hitters in the two scrimmages as the Jayhawks began their allotment of 10 practices leading up to their foreign trip to the Dominican Republic in December.
Along with Kuntz and Moroney, sophomore Nate Arnold chipped in four hits, including a triple and two runs scored, while junior Ka’iana Eldredge went 4-for-8 with a double, an RBI and a stolen base.
On the mound, senior Thomas Taylor and freshman Tyler Watson both registered two-inning appearances without allowing an runs, while freshman Hayden Edwards allowed an unearned run in three innings of work.
The Jayhawks will continue their practice schedule this week, holding workouts Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday at Hoglund Ballpark.
