Overview
A true point guard who is on pace to crush the Kansas career assists record... Has started all but one game (senior day his freshman year) in his career, serving as the floor general for a team which has been to two Final Fours and an Elite Eight in his three seasons at the point... Looks to pass first and shoot second... An excellent ball handler... Likes to push the ball but can effectively operate in the halfcourt... One of KU's best perimeter defenders, Miles has been in the top two in the Big 12 in steals the last two seasons... Can score when called upon by hitting the open jumper or driving to the rack... Named to the Big 12 All-Freshman Team... Earned the Cedric Hunter/Jacque Vaughn Assists Award at the team's annual postseason banquet... Started 36 of KU's 37 games, averaging 7.1 points, 2.7 rebounds and a team-high 6.8 assists per game... His 252 assists shattered the previous freshman record of 181, set in 1994 by Jacque Vaughn... In fact, Miles' 252 dimes rank second on the Jayhawks' single-season list, trailing only Cedric Hunter's 1986 effort of 278 assists... His 6.8 assists per game average ranked second in the Big 12 and fourth in KU history... Tallied 60 steals on the year -- good for second on the team and second-most by any Jayhawk freshman... Dished out 119 assists to just 31 turnovers in Big 12 games... Poured in a then-career-high 16 points on 5-for-8 shooting at Princeton on Dec. 12... Off The Court
Has a reputation for being the team prank artist... Joins teammate Michael Lee in becoming the first players from Oregon to suit up for the Jayhawks... Convinced by teammates to suit up for Jefferson High's football team as a senior, Miles earned the starting quarterback job and led the Democrats to a league championship with fellow KU teammate Lee (a standout tight end) as his favorite target... Chose Kansas over a host of schools including UCLA and Arizona... Follows in the footsteps of other notable Oregon point guards Damon Stoudamire and Terrell Brandon...
