2009 U19 World Championships: Young, whose mother is Puerto Rican, was named to the official roster for the Puerto Rico U19 Team and played in the 2009 U19 World Championship in Auckland, New Zealand, July 2-12, 2009... Puerto Rico finished in sixth place with a 5-4 record, a five-win improvement from the year prior... Young averaged 23 minutes per contest, going for 7.7 points, 5.0 rebounds and 0.9 assists per game, while shooting 55.2 percent from the field... His best game was a double-double performance against Lithuania, going for 18 points, 12 rebounds and five steals.

Freshman Season (2008-09 at Loyola-Marymount): Broke the LMU school freshman rebounds (224) and rebounds per game (7.2 rpg) records with 224 boards for 7.2 rpg... Also set the LMU freshman record with 34 blocked shots and 51 steals... His 19 rebounds against New Mexico State broke the single-game freshman record as well... High School: Graduated from Perris High School of the Sun Belt League, helping his team go 25-7 overall and 10-0 in league play and leading his team to the CIF-SS Division 3 finals where it lost to league-rival Hemet West Valley... Finished his senior season averaging 16.1 points, 10.8 rebounds and 3.7 blocks... His final year of high school included three triple doubles as he totaled 499 points, 335 rebounds, 114 blocks, 66 assists and 59 steals on the season...
