Janisse (pronounced ja-niece) enters his second and final season at KU better prepared for the rigors of Big 12 Conference basketball Got off to a slow start in 1997-98 because of ankle surgery and never seemed to fully catch-up Begins his final season in better shape after bulking up 10 pounds during the off-season One of four seniors and one of three Californians on the Jayhawk roster A good passer and a solid defender Came off the bench on occasion last season to provide a defensive spark for the Jayhawks Teams with newcomer Jeff Boschee to give Kansas great depth at point guard Came to Kansas last season after playing two seasons at Los Angeles City College

Junior Season (1997-98)



    Saw action in 23 of KU’s 39 games
Ankle surgery prior to the start of preseason practice slowed his progress Played an average of 3.1 minutes per game Scored 15 points and pulled down 19 rebounds on the season Made 5-of-6 field goal attempts in Big 12 Conference play Attempted just two three-point field goals all season but made both of them Played nine minutes in the season opener against Santa Clara, dishing out one assist and recording one steal Had two points and a career-high four rebounds in a Dec. 4 win over Emporia State Scored a career-best five points, going 2-of-2 from the field (including 1-of-1 from beyond the arc) in a home win over Colorado Made five baskets without a miss during one January stretch including field goals at Texas and Texas A&M Nailed a three-pointer against Iowa State

Janisse is one of three Californians on the roster and one of 15 from the Golden State to play for KU over the last 11 years.
Worked one summer for a law firm in downtown Los Angeles.
Added 10 pounds to his frame during the off-season through KU’s off-season conditioning program.
