A fan favorite in Allen Fieldhouse, Nooner enters his third season as a Jayhawk A non-scholarship student-athlete who came to KU as a walk-on in 1996-97 after emerging from a large group of candidates at an open campus try-out Known for his three-point shooting, Nooner gives the Jayhawks depth on the perimeter Came off the bench in the first half of KU’s win over Kansas State in last year’s Big 12 Tournament, providing the team with a spark Enjoyed an outstanding prep career at Raytown (Mo.) High, where he was one of the top players in the Kansas City metro area A good student seeking a degree in business administration

Sophomore Season (1997-98)



    Saw action in 22 games including nine conference games
Played an average of 2.2 minutes per game Made 7-of-19 field goal attempts (.368) including 6-of-16 (.375) from three-point range Made his only two free throw attempts Played in all three Big 12 Tournament games Was 5-of-10 from beyond the arc against non-conference opponents Hit at least one three-pointer in four different games Did not attempt a shot inside the three-point arc after mid-December Hit a three-pointer in a win over UNLV in the Preseason NIT Went 2-of-2 from the line and added a steal in the Big 12 Conference opener against Nebraska Knocked down his only three-point field goal attempt in a CBS-televised win at Texas Hit three three-point field goals in the postseason including one against Nebraska in the Big 12 Tournament semifinals and two three-pointers (on two attempts) against Prairie View A&M in the first round of the NCAA Tournament

Freshman Season (1996-97)



    Played in 21 games, seeing 38 minutes of action
Attempted at least one field goal in 13 of those games Was 8-of-20 from the field (40.0 percent) and made four of his 12 three-point attempts Scored his first collegiate points Dec. 30 against Washburn, then made his first career three-point field goal three nights later against Brown Scored four points, blocked a shot and had one steal in home win over Oklahoma State Erupted for eight points on 3-of-3 shooting -- including 2-of-2 from three-point range -- in Feb. 15 win over Colorado That performance inspired a column in the Kansas City Star the next day Saw action in four of the final six games of the regular season Played in all three Big 12 Tournament games Played three minutes in conference title game against Missouri Saw action in KU’s NCAA Tournament first-round win over Jackson State

One of three players on the roster from the state of Missouri joining Ryan Robertson (Saint Charles) and Jeff Carey (Camdenton).
Nooner’s high school teammate was former Nebraska standout Tyronn Lue. Nooner and Nebraska’s Cookie Belcher, who grew up near Raytown, remain good friends.
Nicknamed “Noon Ball” by teammates.
Nooner claims to be the team champion in chess.
