Kansas’ loss at Kansas State...

… Dropped Kansas to 24-2 on the season and 9-2 in Big 12 play.

... Marked Kansas' first road loss of the season, making the Jayhawks 7-1 in true road games and 11-1 in contests away from Allen Fieldhouse.

... Ended Kansas' seven game winning streak against Kansas State.

... Made the KU-KSU series 181-91 in favor of Kansas.

... Made Kansas 73-45 against K-State in games played in Manhattan, including a 21-2 record in Bramlage Coliseum.

... Dropped Bill Self to 226-45 while at Kansas, 433-150 overall and 17-3 against Kansas State, including 16-3 while at KU.

... Made Kansas 2,027-798 all-time.

 

Team Notables

- Kansas used the starting lineup of Tyshawn Taylor, Brady Morningstar, Tyrel Reed, Marcus Morris and Markieff Morris for the fourth-straight game and 11th time this season.

 

- For just the second time this season, Kansas faced a deficit at halftime trailing 42-33 after the first 20 minutes at Kansas State. KU was also behind to Nebraska 30-25 after the first half on Jan. 15.

 

- Kansas State’s Jacob Pullen scored 38 points versus the Jayhawks, the most points a player has scored against the Jayhawks this season and the most by an opponent since Michael Beasley, also of Kansas State, scored 39 points on March 1, 2008.

 

- The Wildcats hit 56.3-percent from the field, a KU opponent high this season.

 

- KU’s 16-point loss to the Wildcats was its largest margin of defeat against KSU since Jan. 23, 1982 when KSU defeated Kansas by 17 points (70-53) in Manhattan.

 

- The loss was also the Jayhawks’ largest margin of defeat since a 19-point loss at Texas Tech on March 4, 2009 (84-65).

 

- Tyrel Reed finished with double-digit points for the first time in three games as he tallied a team-high 14 points. He now has 14 contests scoring in double figures in 2010-11.

 

- Reed collected his 14 points with the help of a career-high eight free throws. His nine free throw attempts tied a career high.

 

- For the 15th straight game, Marcus Morris scored in double figures pouring in 13 points at Kansas State. The forward has 24 games of 10-plus points this season. He also tied a season-high with three steals.

 

- Brady Morningstar hit multiple threes for the fourth time in the last five games as he recorded two treys.

 

- Travis Releford tied a career best hitting three free throws.
