KANSAS’ WIN:

- Made Kansas 5-1 on the season, giving the team a 5-1 or better start for the fifth time in the last six seasons

- Extended KU’s home-court winning streak to 25 games, which would tie for the seventh-longest in school history

- Improved KU to 685-107 all-time in Allen Fieldhouse, including 148-7 under head coach Bill Self

- Moved Coach Self to 274-54 at Kansas and 481-159 overall

- Made KU 2,075-808 all-time

TEAM NOTES:

- After San Jose State’s James Kinney made two free throws to start the second half, Kansas scored 18-straight points over a seven-minute span to open a 24-point lead.

- During KU’s second half surge, senior Jeff Withey collected three blocks before the first media timeout.

- San Jose State did not record its first field goal of the second half until the 12:04 mark.

- SJSU answered with 16-straight points over a 6:34 stretch to cut the lead to eight.

- Kansas went 10 minutes, 22 seconds without scoring from the field, but hit 4-of-6 free throws in that stretch.

- KU’s 16 blocked shots were the most by a Jayhawk team since blocked shots were officially recognized by the NCAA in 1974-75. It passes the 15 blocks KU recorded against Toledo on Dec. 9, 2006.

- The Jayhawks matched season highs with 26 field goals (vs. Chattanooga) and 18 fouls (vs. SEMO).

- San Jose State’s 10 steals were the most by a KU opponent since Oklahoma State recorded 11 steals on Feb. 11 of last year.

- Having never trailed in three-straight games, Kansas has held a lead for its last 133 minutes, 51 seconds, going back to the 13:51 mark of the second half against Chattanooga (Nov. 15).

- This marked the first time this season that KU has won a game when it has been outrebounded. SJSU held a 45-41 edge on the boards.

INDIVIDUAL NOTES:

- Senior Jeff Withey recorded the second official triple-double in Kansas basketball history with 16 points, 12 rebounds and 12 blocked shots.

- Withey’s 12 blocks establishes a school record. He and Cole Aldrich both had 10 blocks in a game to set the previous record.

- Withey is now at 202 career blocks, moving him past Danny Manning for sixth on KU’s all-time list.

- Withey matched season highs in rebounds (12) and field goals (seven) and set a season high with 10 defensive boards.

- SJSU’s James Kinney scored 30 points, marking the most by a Kansas opponent in Allen Fieldhouse since Texas’ J’Covan Brown scored 33 points on March 3 of last season.

- Senior G Elijah Johnson hit three, three-point field goals to give him 107 for his career, which passes Jacque Vaughn (105) and Aaron Miles (105) for 20^th on KU’s all-time list.

- Johnson also matched Paul Pierce for 18^th on KU’s all-time list with 304 three-point field goal attempts.

- Freshman Perry Ellis matched his season high with two assists.
