OVERLAND PARK, Kan. - Kansas senior Tyrel Reed was one of 10 finalists for the Lowe’s Senior CLASS Award for men’s basketball Wednesday. 

To be eligible for the award, a student-athlete must be classified as an NCAA Division I senior and have notable achievements in four areas of excellence – community, classroom, character and competition.

Fans are encouraged to vote via the Lowe’s Senior CLASS Award website or on the Lowe’s Senior CLASS Award Facebook fan page through March 20. Fan votes will be combined with media and coaches votes to determine the winner.

Reed graduated in December with a pre-physical therapy/exercise science degree.  The Burlington, Kan., guard needed only three and a half years to complete his coursework and has been accepted to KU Med Physical Therapy school.  Reed is a two-time Academic All-Big 12 First Team member and has been nominated for Academic All-American each of the past three years.

Through the first 20 games this season, Reed is averaging 10 points and three rebounds.  He leads the team in three point field goals made (41) and in free throw percentage (85 percent).  Reed is the only Jayhawk to have started every game this season.
