Entering his fifth year with the Kansas football program and third as a full-time coach, is cornerbacks coach Je'Ney Jackson. After spending two years as an assistant strength and conditioning coach at KU, Jackson moved to coaching on the field beginning in 2007.

Under his direction in 2007, Aqib Talib earned consensus All-America honors and was a first-round NFL draft pick by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, while Chris Harris was tabbed a Freshman All-America Honorable Mention pick by The Sporting News.

In 2008 Jackson worked a variety of players in and out of the lineup, coaching former wide receivers and safeties at the cornerback position. Under Jackson's guidance converted wide receiver Daymond Patterson and former safety Justin Thornton both had success on the corners. When all was said and done, KU ranked third in the Big 12 in pass efficiency defense.

Jackson had a wide array of talent to work with in 2007, from the inexperienced newcomers to the experienced field veterans. Harris made an immediate impact on the squad, starting 10 games and earning Big 12 Defensive Newcomer of the Year honors by the Associated Press.

Where Harris was inexperienced, yet highly successful in his inaugural collegiate season, his counterpart, junior Aqib Talib, was a talented and highly-experienced player at the other corner. In fact, Talib was named preseason or midseason All-America by the Big 12 Conference, CBSSportsline.com, SI.com, Phil Steele and Playboy Magazine just to name a few, after amassing 66 tackles, five interceptions and 13 pass break-ups on the season.

Talib won multiple postseason awards, a few of which included consensus All-America First Team honors, being named to the Walter Camp Player of the Year Watch List and earning Bronko Nagurski Award Finalist honors. He was also a Jim Thorpe Award Semifinalist, an honor for the nation's best defensive back.

Jackson came to KU after working as a strength and conditioning coach at Wyoming for six years.

An All-WAC cornerback as a senior at Wyoming, Jackson was a four-year letterman for the Cowboys from 1994-97 and earned a biology degree from UW in 1998. He finished his Cowboys' career with 85 unassisted tackles, 129 total tackles and seven interceptions.

As a junior, he appeared in all 12 games for the Cowboys at corner. Jackson put together an outstanding senior season as a starter at left corner, earning All-WAC First Team honors. He was second on the team in interceptions with five and also had 37 total tackles and broke up eight passes.

As a freshman at UW he played wide receiver, and returned punts and kickoffs. He moved to the defensive side of the ball as a sophomore, starting five games at cornerback and producing 45 tackles and two interceptions. His 98-yard interception return against UTEP is still a Cowboy record.

Jackson had an outstanding prep career while attending Guernsey-Sunrise High School in Wyoming, earning 12 varsity letters in football, basketball and track. Jackson was selected as Wyoming's Football Player of the Year by both USA Today and the Casper Star-Tribune/Wyoming Radio Network.

Jackson and his wife Audra have three children, Dante', Tre' Sean and Bre' Anna.
