Matsakis transitioned into his new role after serving the previous 10 seasons as the director of football operations at KU. He has been a key member of the Jayhawk football staff, working closely with the program's head coach since he arrived on campus in 2002. Prior to coming to Kansas, Matsakis worked in the same capacity at the University of Houston from 2000-01. Matsakis also spent three years (1997-99) at Wyoming, serving as administrative assistant and video coordinator for the Cowboy football program. He started his career in the video department at K-State, from 1993-96. Matsakis and his wife, Heidi, reside in Lawrence with their daughter Lexie. |
