High School: Arrived on campus for Spring of 2009... Played running back, defensive back and returned punts and kickoffs... Played his senior season at Piper HS after previously attending Monarch HS... Rushed for 1,276 yards and 10 touchdowns on 235 carries as a senior... Was the second-leading rusher in Broward County... His 235 carries were the 10th-most in Broward County history... As a junior he led the county in rushing with 1,486 yards and 13 TDs on 223 carries. Personal: Son of Tony and Calandra Sands... Father was a standout running back at KU from 1988-91... Tony holds the KU single-game rushing record of 396 yards vs. Missouri in 1991 and is the school's second-leading career rusher with 3,788 yards... Has one brother and one sister...
