Weis Announces Staff Alterations And Additions

Kansas football adds three new staff members and changes up roles on a few others.

Matt Shula is in his second season at Kansas and his first as a graduate assistant with the special teams. Shula spent the 2012 season on KU head coach Charlie Weis' staff working in a quality control position with recruiting.

Shula came to KU from Florida where he spent three years working with the Gator football program in the video department. He earned his undergraduate degree at UF in May of 2012.

Prior to attending Florida, Shula first attended Lafayette College where he was a member of the football team. Shula played on the Leopards' defensive line in 2007, before his playing career was ended by an injury.

Shula comes from a football family as his father, David, was the head coach of the NFL's Cincinnati Bengals from 1992-96. His uncle, Mike, served as the head coach at Alabama (2003-06) and is currently the offensive coordinator of the Carolina Panthers. His grandfather, Don, was the legendary coach of the Miami Dolphins from 1970-1995 where he led the organization to two Super Bowl titles. Don Shula is in the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
