2007 (RS): Redshirted his first season at Kansas.
Junior College: Lettered for two seasons at Garden City... Played defensive end... Had 70 tackles and seven sacks.
High School: Earned all-state honors as a senior... Was a two-time all-conference defensive end and tight end... Recorded more than 250 career tackles... Lettered four seasons... Also wrestled and placed in the state tournament.
Personal: Born in Osborne, Kan... Major is economics... Son of Doyle and Lisa Spears... Has two brothers and one sister... Father Doyle played football at Kansas, as did brother Derek.
