11/30/2012 Building the Program: Kansas FootballCharlie Weis, Jr., is entering his second season as a student manager with the Kansas football program. Weis, a sophomore at KU, will work alongside assistant coaches Reggie Mitchell and Ron Powlus and the Jayhawk running backs and quarterbacks. Weis, Jr., transferred to KU after spending the 2011 fall semester in a similar capacity at the University of Florida. In his semester at UF, Weis, Jr., worked as the quality control intern for head coach Will Muschamp. He worked primarily with the Gator wide receivers, as well as, relaying the offensive game plan from the offensive staff to the head coach. Weis, Jr., graduated from St. Pius X High School in Kansas City, Mo., in 2011 prior to attending Florida. During his one season at St. Pius, he played wide receiver on the Warriors' football team. He spent his first three years of high school at St. Joe High School in South Bend, Ind., where he served as a student assistant for the football team. In his role as student assistant, he broke down game film and assisted the staff with various responsibilities. In his spare time, Weis, Jr., is actively involved with Hannah and Friends, a non-profit organization dedicated to improving the quality of life for children and adults with special needs. |
