(Kansas State, 1989)

First Year at KU

After spending the last two seasons as the Associate Head Coach/Offensive Coordinator/Wide Receivers Coach at Southern Mississippi, Darrell Wyatt returns to Kansas as a member of Turner Gill's first Jayhawk coaching staff.

Wyatt was an assistant coach at Kansas from 1997-2000 under Terry Allen. In his tenure at KU he served as Associate Head Coach/Offensive Coordinator/Wide Receivers Coach.

During his coaching career he has earned Rivals.com national recruiting honors in 2004 and 2009.

In the last two seasons at Southern Miss., Wyatt's offenses were among the nation's best. In 2008 USM broke 36 offensive school records en route to producing 5,636 yards of total offense. The total offense mark ranked 20th nationally, the school's highest ever statistical ranking.

In 2009 USM was ranked 19th in the country in scoring offense at 33 points per contest, while its balanced attack produced 418 yards per game to rank 31st in the nation.

In 2008 he coached DeAndre Brown, who would go on to lead the nation's freshmen in receiving yards and touchdown receptions while catching a school-record 67 passes.

Wyatt started his coaching career at Trinity Valley CC (1989-91) before moving to Sam Houston State (1992-94), Wyoming (1995) and Baylor (1996). After four seasons at Kansas, Wyatt spent the 2001 season at Oklahoma State before moving to the staff at Oklahoma for five seasons.

At Oklahoma, he helped the Sooners to four bowl games as the wide receivers coach. He was the passing game coordinator in his final year with the Sooners, where he coached three wide receivers who were first-day NFL draft picks and who started professionally as rookies.

He left Oklahoma to spend one season in the NFL as the wide receivers coach of the Minnesota Vikings in 2006. He returned to the college game, serving as the wide receivers coach and passing game coordinator at Arizona in 2007 before moving to USM. In his one year at Arizona, the Wildcats ranked 10th nationally in passing yards per game (308.5).

Wyatt started his collegiate playing career at Trinity Valley CC before playing two seasons at Kansas State (1987-88). He graduated from Kansas State with a degree in sociology in 1989.

Wyatt and his wife Cindy have two children, Desmond and Charese.
