A KU fan was sure the 36 year streak of losing to Nebraska would end Saturday.
Tim Allen and Charlton Keith made life miserable for Nebraska quarterback Zac Taylor.
Eric Butler celebrated with Nick Reid after he sacked Taylor in the endzone for a safety.
James McClinton intercepted a pass on Nebraska's two-point conversion attempt that would have tied the score.
Jon Cornish broke away from a Nebraska tackler to begin his 72-yard touchdown run.
A Memorial Stadium record crowd of 51,750 erupted as Cornish raced to the endzone.
Cornish hit the goal line to break open the game.
Brian Murph congratulated Cornish.
The KU students and their Mark Mangino mask had plenty to smile about Saturday.
KU defense discussed new ways to stop the Husker offense.
Jerome Kemp, Charlton Keith, Kevin Kane and James McClinton and the rest of the defense held Nebraska to 21 rushing yards.
The domination by Kansas delighted young KU fans.
Clark Green set off on his 30 yard shovel pass reception run.
Green also picked up 100 yards rushing.
Nebraska coach Bill Callahan turned away as linebacker Kevin Kane raced by fallen QB Taylor on a 40 yard interception TD run.
Kane sprinted for the endzone thanks to a block by Brandon Perkins.
Then Kane celebrated with Theo Baines.
The celebration for the senior linebacker continued on the bench.
As the final seconds ticked off, Kane saluted the joyous KU fans.
Charlton Keith powered in to stop Zac Taylor.
Keith again shredded the Nebraska offensive line.
Congratulations abounded for the senior defensive end.
Keith acknowledged the cheers of the huge crowd.
KU's senior linebackers - Banks Floodman, Kevin Kane and Nick Reid - stopped NU's Cory Ross.
Brian Murph slashed through the NU secondary for part of his 46 receiving yards.
Three of KU's offensive stars - Clark Green, Jon Cornish and Jason Swanson - celebrated the monumental victory.
Mike Rivera hung onto Cody Glenn for a tackle.
Darren Rus gathered up a blocked punt.
Rus set off for the endzone.
Rush dropped the ball after crossing the goal line and began to savor the moment.
Quarterback Jason Swanson racked up 215 yards of passing and two touchdowns on 27 attempts.
Receiver Mark Simmons broke away on his first quarter touchdown reception.
Simmons' 40 yard touchdown gave KU an advantage they never relinquished.
Simmons and Charles Gordon celebrated the TD.
On only six recptions, Simmons gained 100 yards and scored two touchdowns.
Simmons dove to pull in a 12 yard touchdown reception that put the game out of reach.
A smiling coach Mark Mangino enjoyed the historic victory.
As did a KU fan in a Mangino mask.
Once again, the goalposts came down.
The team gathered for a final photo to remember the end of the streak and a great KU victory.
