Kansas Announces 2013 Football Schedule

LAWRENCE, Kan. -- Kansas football will host seven home games in 2013, including Sunflower Showdown rival Kansas State in its regular season finale according to the newly released schedule that was approved by the Big 12 Directors of Athletics Tuesday morning. Kansas will open the 2013 season by hosting South Dakota at Memorial Stadium on Saturday, Sept. 7, in head coach Charlie Weis' second season at the helm of the program. In non-conference action, KU will host Louisiana Tech on Sept. 21, in addition the opener versus South Dakota. It will also travel to Rice on Saturday, Sept. 14. The 2013 Big 12 slate features a 10-team, nine-game, round-robin schedule for the third-straight season. Dates are subject to change as adjustments are expected to accommodate television partners' requests. Television selections for the first three weeks of the season and special dates are due to the Conference July 1. KU will host Texas Tech (Oct. 5), Oklahoma (Oct. 19), Baylor (Oct. 26), West Virginia (Nov. 16) and Kansas State (Nov. 30) in Big 12 play and will travel to TCU (Oct. 12), Texas (Nov. 2), Oklahoma State (Nov. 9) and Iowa State (Nov. 23).
