KU raced onto the field in the Fort Worth Bowl Friday evening.

KU players were greeted by the cheers of the large KU crowd.

Theo Baines interception early in the second half set up a Jon Cornish TD.

Baines had two interceptions for KU

Baines celebrated on the bench as the fourth quarter bagan.

The KU band marched in front of the KU fans that filled the stadium.

Jon Cornish scored on a 13-yard pass reception in the first half.

In the second half, Cornish dashed in for his second TD on a 30-yard reception.

Houston quarterback Kevin Kolb was sandwiched by three Jayhawks.

Charles Gordon pulled in a 31-yard reception on the first play from scrimmage for KU.

Clark Green and other Jayhawk runners had huge holes to run through.

Deep in the heart of Texas, a large KU cowboy hat was very fashionable.

Kevin Kane and Nick Reid celebrated a defensive stop.

Senior Charlton Keith lunged for the endzone on his 14 yard interception return.

Keith was mobbed by the defense after his big play.

Early in the game Coach Mark Mangino prowled the sidelines.

As the game wore on, coach Mangino had reason to smile.

With victory in hand, coach Mangino received a shower.

A happy coach Mangino waited to be interviewed by ESPN's Dr. Jerry Punch.

Brian Murph put KU on the board first with a 85-yard punt return.

Murph pulled in a 48-yard pass from Jason Swanson for KU's final score.

Murph hit the endzone to put KU up 42-13.

Nick Reid stuck his hand in for a recption breakup.

Mark Simmons headed for the endzone on his 32-yard TD reception.

Simmons picked ujp 77 yards on five receptions.

KU students enjoyed the rout.

Jason Swanson and Houston's Kevin Kolb won MVP honors.

Swanson fireed a pass to Derek Fine.

Good pass protection allowed Swanson to complete 19 of 29 passes for 307 yards and four touchdowns.

Swanson also picked up 33 yards on seven runs.

Mark Simmons and the Jayhawks showed off their Fort Worth bowl trophy.

KU celebrated their first bowl victory since 1995.

Everyone wanted to get their hands on the trophy.

Rodney Allen held the trophy up for all to see.

KU fans and the players both shared in the victory and the celebration.

Big 12 defensive player of the year Nick Reid said his final goodbyes to the KU fans.

Seniors Tim Allen, Kevin Kane and Banks Floodman ended their careers with a bowl victory.
