Kansas, Ward Win Stevinson Ranch Invitational

STEVINSON, Calif. - The University of Kansas men's golf team took home first place, in a 14-team field, at the Stevinson Ranch Invitational at Stevinson Ranch Golf Club (par-72, 7,206 yards) in Stevinson, Calif. The Jayhawks shot a final round of 299 to give them a two day score of 872. The Jayhawks won the tournament by 20 strokes, which was the most by any team in the tournament's history. This marks the second straight year the `Hawks have won the title and the sixth time in seven seasons. The win was the second team title for KU this spring. Senior Kevin Ward won the tournament by six strokes after posting a three round score of 208. With the win, Ward collected his third title as a Jayhawk and his first of the spring season. Sophomore Tyler Docking finished in fourth place with a 216. Sophomore Gary Woodland tied for 13th place after he posted a two-day score of 221. Junior Luke Trammell finished in tie for 23rd with a 227. Junior Pete Krsnich placed in a tie for 75th with a 244. Freshman John Newcomer, who competed as an individual, also finished in a tie for 75th with a 244. Kansas will next be in action at the 59th Western Intercollegiate in Santa Cruz, Calif. on March 28-29. Team Results Place School Score
