Sept. 12, 2008
LAWRENCE, Kan. - The Kansas men’s golf team, fresh off its third place finish at the Fairway Club Invitational, returns home to host the 2008 Kansas Invitational Sept. 15-16 at Alvamar Golf Club (par-72, 7,058) yards. The Jayhawks have won the event three of the last four years. All players for the Jayhawks not in the lineup will compete in the event as individuals. Sophomore Nate Barbee will try to duplicate his fourth-place finish at the Fairway Club Invitational to begin the season. Barbee finished tied for eighth at last year’s Kansas Invitational. Senior Zach Pederson, who will compete as an individual, has recorded a top-20 finish in his three career starts at the Kansas Invitational. In last year’s event, the University of Houston claimed the team championship with a three-round score of 888. The 54-hole event will include 36 holes played on Monday, Sept. 15, followed by the final round on Sept. 16.
