BOOTH FAMILY HALL OF ATHLETICS
Booth Family Hall of Athletics
Hours of operation will be 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday. Some holidays the Hall will be closed. Additionally, the Booth Family Hall of Athletics will be open during all home basketball games and special university events. For basketball games the Hall will close three hours prior to tip-off and reopen when the Fieldhouse opens and hour and a half before tip-off. For football games the Hall will open as it does normally at 10 a.m. (may open before for early games) and will close a half hour before kickoff. When closed, the hall will be locked and not accessible by the general public.
The Booth Family Hall of Athletics will be staffed by at least one person during operating hours and during home basketball and football games. A desk will be set up during regular operating hours that will be removed on basketball game nights. A combination of student workers, interns and graduate assistants will make up the staff.
Displays are changeable and will be altered periodically. The curator shall make these changes.
Janitorial services will be incorporated into the overall Allen Fieldhouse plan. Windows will be cleaned every other day, unless needed more.
A series of security cameras and alarms have been installed throughout the Hall and are monitored by KUPD.
The Naismith Room is to be used for special functions:
On game days, the basketball team may eat a pre-game meal in the room but must vacate it at least three hours prior to tip-off. Additionally, teams must clean up after themselves. Doors for invited donors will open 90 minutes prior to tip-off. A catered buffet will be provided along with beer, wine, soda, water, and coffee. At tip-off the room will close until half time, when it will re-open serving snacks and drinks. At the beginning of the second half, the room will close again until the end of the game, at which time it will re-open for one hour serving coffee, soda, water and deserts.
Guests for each game will differ. The guest list must be pre-approved by the Athletics Director. The Williams Educational Fund will staff donor receptions. No Kansas Athletics staff or family members are to enter unless they have been assigned specific duties (fundraising, etc.).
Other Kansas Athletics teams may request use of the Naismith Room for specific functions (end of year banquets, etc.). With approval from Athletics Director this will be an allowed use of the room.
The 'kitchen' consists of a refrigerator, hand-sink and microwave. There is also a keg-aerator in the Naismith Room. The Memorial Union is required under University rules to cater in University buildings. Therefore, the Naismith Room and Jayhawk Den can only be catered by the Union; there are no exceptions. Other than approved functions, the room will be locked and not open to the staff or general public. Only necessary personnel will have keys to the Naismith Room; it is not on the master key.
The Jayhawk Den is to be used solely by Director of Athletics and Head Coaches, with approval of the Athletics Director. The Jayhawk Den may be used for intimate dinners or relaxing conversation. The standard room set-up will be set up as a lounge, with sofas and chairs. However, the room can easily be changed into a private dining room.
