Kansas Athletes Participate in Hawks, Cops and Kids
Sept. 24, 2011
LAWRENCE, Kan. – Nearly 50 Kansas student-athletes participated in the annual Hawks, Cops & Kids Day at Robinson Gymnasium Saturday morning. The event, which featured six stations that area kids were taken through, included lessons on drug safety, internet safety, what to do about strangers and stations of games with current Jayhawk student-athletes. Members from the Kansas football, softball, women’s tennis and women’s rowing squads made up a majority of the participating athletes. The day ended with the kids getting a demonstration of the different features of a police car, including the siren. The event was a collaboration of effort from Kansas Athletics, Lawrence Area Police and the Lawrence area Big Brothers and Big Sisters program.
