Capps oversees the daily operations of the program, while handling team travel, business operations, community relations and serving as director of the Bonnie Henrickson Summer Basketball Camps. She also directs the annual Bonnie Henrickson Golf Tournament and is the liaison to the Hardwood Booster Club. In addition, Capps assists with on-campus recruiting, game day management and student-athlete development. Capps came to Kansas after one season as a graduate assistant at Western Kentucky University, where she also played four seasons for the Lady `Toppers. During her career, WKU appeared in the 2000 NCAA Tournament and made two WNIT appearances. As a graduate assistant in 2003-04, Capps had a variety of coaching and administrative duties as a member of the Western Kentucky staff including serving as the community liaison, as well as coordinator of the booster club and assisting with scheduling. She was also responsible for aiding with academic affairs, coordinating team travel and promoting the Lady Topper Summer Basketball Camps. A native of Bloomington, Ill., Capps graduated from Western Kentucky in 2002 with a degree in Corporate and Organizational Communications. She earned a master's of Education degree (Sports Studies) from the University of Kansas in 2007. Formerly Katie Wulf, she married Eric Capps on Sept. 3, 2005. The couple have three sons, Charlie (4) and twins Harrison and Winston who were born on Jan. 19, 2011. |
