OMAHA, Neb. - Senior Carolyn Davis joined the 1,400 point club scoring 12 points Sunday and No. 22 Kansas also got an offensive lift from Monica Engelman and CeCe Harper, as each posted season highs, in a 58-48 non-conference win over Creighton at D.J. Sokol Arena.

Kansas (5-0 overall) shot 24-for-45, 53.3 percent, from the field and scored 24 of its points off of Bluejay turnovers while posting 32 in the paint. Engelman recorded a game-high 12 points and Harper also scored 10 points.

In the first minute of play, Davis scored the first two points from the free throw line for the Jayhawks. The momentum stayed with KU during the game's first eight minutes, as the Jayhawks opened with a 16-4 run, scoring six of its points off the fast break.

Creighton (2-2) senior guard Ally Jensen ended Kansas' run at 11:54 with a three pointer to make it a 16-7 game.

The Jayhawk first-half offense was powered by points from seven different players, including 10 from Davis and six by Engelman, to secure its lead, 30-18, into halftime. Kansas recorded a season-best first half shooting percentage of 54.2 percent from the field.

Kansas maintained its 10-point lead throughout the remainder of the game, including its largest lead of 19 points, until the 4:24 mark of the second half. Leading 52-43, Kansas had its lead cut to eight twice, but a baskets by Harper and Engelman, along with two free throws from Natalie Knight in the final 34 seconds pushed the final advantage to 10 points.

"Monica hit a tough two to start and helped her get off to a good start," head coach Bonnie Henrickson said. "This was a solid team effort and we got great offensive support from both Monica and CeCe. It was a good win."

Creighton cut into KU's lead with an 18-5 run beginning at 6:54 to make it the score, 56-48. Knight ended the Bluejays' run with those two key free throws in the final seconds. After a Creighton turnover, Kansas ran down the final seconds to end the game, 58-48.

Kansas will return to Allen Fieldhouse on Wednesday, when the Jayhawks host Grambling State for the first of two home dates. Wednesday's game is scheduled to tip at 7 p.m.
