Included was the team 6A High School State Championship at Shadow Glen CC in October 2011... Also as a team, Garden City Senior set a state record in a regular tournament at Salina Municipal Golf Course... Set the state tournament nine-hole record by shooting five under as a senior, breaking her own record of three under set the previous year... Finished sixth in state her freshman year and third her junior year... Was named the girls golf Western Athletic Conference (WAC) most valuable player (MVP) all four years in high school... Was honored as the Garden City Telegram Player of the Year her junior and senior years and an all-area golfer by the publication all four years during high school... Received the Marine Corps "Best Athlete" honor her senior year at Garden City... A Kansas Honors Scholar.

Has shot a 68 for her career low on her home course... Grandmother, father, aunt, uncle and sister all attended KU... Father played golf at Kansas from 1989-90 and went on to play professionally... Sean Thayer led KU individually in two tournaments in 1989 and in five tourneys in 1990... Sean and Mackenzie have won the KWGA Adult-Junior golf tournament from 2008-12... Won Kansas Women's Golf Association (KWGA) 52nd Annual State Junior Girls Golf Championship in summer 2012 at Tallgrass Country Club in Wichita... Suffers from the same condition (Klippel-Trenaunay Syndrome, a blood circulation disorder) as PGA professional Casey Martin in her left leg... Has been able to ride in a golf cart in every tournament she has played in... Plans to study business.
