Nugent, Boonraksasat Help Kansas to Fifth Place Finish at Sir Pizza Cards Challenge

LAWRENCE, Kan.--Behind strong final rounds from junior Katy Nugent and freshman Thanuttra Boonraksasat, Kansas women's golf finished fifth at the Sir Pizza Cards Challenge in Weston, Fla., on Tuesday. Nugent tied for seventh place with a 54-hole score of 222, her third best score of the season, and her third round 70 is also her second best one-round score of the season. Boonraksasat's 10th place finish is the best finish of career and her 54-hole 224 is also a career best. Senior Grace Thiry tied for 37th with a 235 on the tournament after shooting a 77 in the final round. Fellow senior Meghna Bal shot a 239 and tied for 48th. Freshman Meghan Potee carded a 240 and tied for 50th. Jennifer Clark, competing as an individual, finished 70th as the senior fired a 54-hole 250. As a team Kansas notched its fifth top five finish of the season. The Jayhawks' 296 in the final round was the third best team round of the tournament and is KU's second best team round on the year.
