Kansas Wins Mountain View Collegiate

CATALINA, Ariz. - The University of Kansas women's golf team took home first place at the Mountain View Collegiate in Catalina, Ariz. The Jayhawks shot a final round of 290 (884 total), its best single round of the season. The win marks the first team title for KU since the Marilynn Smith Invitational in the fall of 2004. Nebraska finished second with an 885 and Northwestern finished third with an 886. "I am so proud of our girls," head coach Erin O'Neil said. "I know what this team is capable of and I hope this a springboard for the rest of the season." Senior Chelsey Pryor shot a 74 to finish in sixth place with a 217 total. Sophomore Annie Giangrosso carded a 74 to tie for seventh with a 218 total. Junior Amanda Costner tied for 14th after her final round of 69 gave her a 221. Senior Meredith Winkelmann shot a 73 in the final round to place in a tie for 35th with a 228, which marked her best three round score of the season. Sophomore Sarah Kierl withdrew in the final round and did not receive a score. The Jayhawks will be back in action on April 9-10 at the Susie Maxwell Classic in Norman, Okla.
