STILLWATER, Okla. - It was a difficult day for the Kansas women's golf team as the Jayhawks completed play at the Big 12 Championship on Sunday.

Kansas shot a final-round 340 and finished 10th in the 12-team event.  Host Oklahoma State cruised to the team title, while Cowgirl Jaclyn Sweeney claimed medalist honors.

Meghna Bal was KU's leader on the final day, as she shot a team-best 83.  Emily Powers and Grace Thiry each added 85's, while Sydney Wilson completed the team scoring with an 87.  Annie Giangrosso's 91 did not count in the team score.

For the tournament, Powers shot 247 to lead the Jayhawks with a tie for 29th individually.  Thiry tied for 33rd at 248, Bal tied for 38th at 250, Giangrosso was 50th at 257 and Wilson tied for 52nd at 259.

OSU shot a 912 total to defeat runner-up Texas A&M by 27 strokes.  Sweeney led a one-two-three individual finish for the Cowgirls as teammates Karin Kinnerud and Amanda Johnson finished right behind her.

Kansas was in seventh place after the first round, before slipping to ninth after round two and finishing in 10th place after the third and final round.

The Jayhawks opened the tournament with a 333 and cut eight strokes off their score in the second round with a 325.  However, on the final day, the Jayhawks ballooned to a 340 total, their worst round of the year.

The difficult Karsten Creek course took its toll on the participants as only 14 individuals in the 60-player field were able to break 80 on the final day, with the best score, a 76 by two players.  In fact, five players shot in the 90s.

Only one school was able to better its team score from the second day and in fact six of the 12 schools posted their worst team scores in the final round.
