Only seven in the 80-player field managed to shoot below 80 in the opening round, including senior Jill Womble, who is playing as an individual. "The weather has been difficult, but overall we have been playing well," head coach Erin O'Neil said. "We came back and played better in the afternoon, and we look forward to tomorrow to build on our scores. We are in good position to make up some ground." Two freshmen are leading the way for the Jayhawks. Meghan Gockel is in a tie for fifth place with a total score of 157 (80-77) after rounds one and two, while Emily Powers is tied for 13th with 159 (82-77). Senior Amanda Costner sits in a tie for 22nd place with 162 (83-79), and freshman Camilla Svensson is tied for 29th with 164 (80-84). Jill Womble is also tied for 29th with 164 (79-85). In a tie for 40th is junior Annie Giangrosso with 169 (80-89) after the first two rounds.
