Women's Golf Finish Fifth At Price's Give `Em Five

Las Cruces, N.M. - The University of Kansas women's golf team finished in fifth place, in an 18-team field, after shooting a three-round total of 921 at the Price's Give `Em Five Intercollegiate. Kansas' third round score of 304 was the second lowest on the day. "You could see all of the things we have been working on come out today," head coach Erin O'Neil said. "The players had great attitudes throughout the round even though it was very windy." Arizona State finished in first place with an 893 followed by Texas Tech which totaled a 902. Sophomore Jill Womble lead the Jayhawks after her three-round total of 228 placed her in a tie for 15th. Junior Tiffany Woods shot a three-round total of 231 to tie for 25th place. Sophomore Amanda Costner and junior Chelsey Pryor each totaled a 232 in three rounds of play to place in a tie for 29th. Freshman Annie Giangrosso fired a 245 to tie for 71st. "We got consistently better each round," O'Neil said. "This will be a great boost for our tournament next week." The Jayhawks will next be in action when they host the Marilynn Smith Invitational at Alvamar Golf Club in Lawrence, Kan. on Oct 11-12. Team Results Place School Score
