Thiry in first after day one at the Qdoba Invitational

MIAMI LAKES, Fla. - Freshman Grace Thiry was one of two golfers to finish under par with a 71 to put her in a tie for first place individually after day one of the Qdoba Invitational, Sunday. Thiry fired a 35 on the back nine to vault her into a tie with
Sophomore Emily Powers was the only other Jayhawk to finish in the top 20, firing a three-over-par 73, good for 12th place. Senior Annie Giangrosso completed round one in a tie for 37th place after firing a 79 on the day. Freshman Meghna Bal and sophomore Meghan Gockel each tied for 49th place with a first-round score of 82. Competing unattached, sophomore Camilla Svensson finished close behind, carding an 84 to tie for 57th place. The Jayhawks will look to improve on their individual and team positions in the leaderboards as second-round action continues Monday.
