Costner, Giangrosso Named to Academic All-Big 12 First Team
April 11, 2007 IRVING, Texas - Kansas Senior Amanda Costner and junior Annie Giangrosso were among 40 student-athletes named to the 2007 Academic All-Big 12 Women's Golf Team, the league office announced. Costner and Giangrosso were placed on the first team after maintaining a 3.2 or better GPA the previous two semesters and having participated in more than 60 percent of KU's scheduled competitions this year. Costner, a native of Claremore, Okla., garnered first team honors for the third time in her career. The senior who is majoring in applied behavioral science, leads the Jayhawks with a 76.11 stroke average this season. Giangrosso, a sports science/sports management major, is making her second appearance on the Academic All-Big 12 Team. The Prairie Village, Kan., native is fifth on the team with a 79.11 stroke average in the squad's 10 events. Nominated by each institution's director of student-athlete support services and the media relations offices, the academic all-league women's golf squad consisted of 34 first team members combined with six on the second team. The second team are those who have a 3.00 to 3.19 GPA. The Big 12 Women's Golf Championship is scheduled for April 16-18 at the Ridgewood Country Club in Waco, Texas. The championship format consists of a total of 54 holes with the entire course being played each of the three days.
