Kansas Junior Annie Giangrosso Wins U.S. Women's Open Local Qualifier to Advance to Sectional Qualifier

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Kansas junior Annie Giangrosso fired a 75 at the Blue Hills Country Club in Kansas City, Mo., to tie for first at the U.S. Women's Open local qualifier Monday. By winning, the KU senior Amanda Costner also participated in the event and did not advance after shooting an 85 at Blue Hills CC. This marks the third straight year KU women's golfers have had success just after the KU spring season. Previously, Giangrosso and Coster were region qualifiers for the U.S. Women's Amateur Public Links Championship in 2005 and 2006. Additionally, Costner qualified for the U.S. Women's Amateur in 2005.
