BROKEN ARROW, Okla. – Behind a pair of 4-over par 76s by juniors Thanuttra Boonraksasat and Meghan Potee, the Kansas women’s golf team concluded the Dale McNamara Invitational at the Golf Club of Oklahoma Tuesday.

As a team, Kansas finished 11^th out of 15 squads with a three-round total 910 (+46), which included a 312 (+24) on the final day. The Jayhawks just missed a top-10 finish by one stroke, entering the day in eighth place after shooting rounds of 295 (+7) and 303 (+15) on Monday.

“Today didn’t go the way we wanted. We didn’t finish as well as we could have,” Kansas head coach Erin O’Neil said. “We just weren’t on the same level as yesterday. Yesterday we had a ton of birdies which helped us. But today our 4-5 players finished with double-bogies so we didn’t quite finish it.”

From Nonthaburi, Thailand, Boonraksasat tied for 24^th in the 75-individual field with a three-round 223 (+7). Potee, from Noblesville, Ind., was three strokes behind Boonraksasat with a 226 (+10), which tied for 30^th individually. Her 226 tied for her third-lowest 54-hole score as a Jayhawk.

In her first collegiate event, KU freshman Yupaporn Kawinpakorn finished 40^th with a 229, while sophomore Gabby DiMarco recorded a 54-hole KU career-best 232, which tied for 50^th at the event. Jayhawk senior Audrey Yowell tied for 59^th with a 235.

Arizona State won the team title with a three-round 866 (+2), three shots ahead of runner-up Florida at 869 (+5). Florida’s Isabelle Lendl won the event firing a three-round 6-under par 210 (71-67-72), which included an even-par 72 on Tuesday.

Kansas will next host the annual Marilynn Smith Sunflower Invitational at Alvamar Golf Course in Lawrence, Kan., Sept. 24-25.

“We need to focus as playing as much as we can this week and try to recreate situations to put pressure on teams and also focus on our putting,” O’Neil said. “We’re not far off. We’re close to putting it together. Although today didn’t go how we wanted, there were a lot of good things to take away from this tournament.”
