Kansas Rowing Gets Off to a Strong Start on Day One of OU Invite

Oklahoma City, Ok.--Kansas rowing had a good start to the first competition of the season winning five of the first six races the team competed in and earned 28 total points. The Jayhawks struggled in the afternoon session earning no more points for the team, but did win the Second Novice Eight versus Oklahoma. In the morning session the Jayhawks won all of their matchups except for the Open Four, which did not count for any points. Kansas defeated SMU in the First Varsity Four, Second Varsity Eight and First Varsity Eight. KU also beat Oklahoma in the First Novice Eight race. USD outraced Kansas in the Open Four. San Diego was able to race past the Jayhawks for victories in the First Varsity Eight, Second Varsity Eight and Varsity Four in the afternoon seassion. Racing will continue on Sunday morning with the Jayhawks kicking off the morning races at 8 a.m. versus Oklahoma in the First Novice Eight.
