Rowing Completes First Day at South-Central Regionals

The University of Kansas rowing team completed the first day of competition at the South-Central Regionals. After an afternoon rain delay the Jayhawks finished on a successful note, advancing three of the four boats to Sunday's finals. In the Open 4 race, the Jayhawks took third in the first heat with a time of 8:17.45 to advance to the afternoon semi-finals. In the second heat of the semi-final the Jayhawks placed fourth with a time of 8:38.40 to compete Sunday in the "B" Final. In the first race of the day for the 1st Varsity 4 boat, the Jayhawks placed sixth in the third heat with a time of 7:52.22. They would not advance to the semi-final race of the regatta. The 2nd Varsity 8 boat earned a fourth place finish in the first heat with a time of 6:58.26. The will compete Sunday in the "C" final. The final race of the day for Kansas was the 1st Varsity 8. The Jayhawks place fifth in the first heat with a time of 6:52.56. That time earned the team a spot in the "C/D" Semi-final. In the semi-final race they finished third with a time of 6:54.36. They will advance to the "C" final on Sunday.
