Kansas Rowing Makes Strides in First Regatta of Season
Sept. 28, 2008
DES MOINES, Iowa - Kansas Rowing Makes Strides in First Regatta of Season
Kansas rowing opened the season with a strong effort that showed much improvement among the members of the team. Though the Jayhawks gave a strong effort, in-state rival Kansas State defeated KU in both the Collegiate Eight and Collegiate Four races.
Kansas had boats finish second and third behind Kansas State in the Collegiate Eight. Both boats crossed the finish line 30 seconds after the first place Wildcats. In the Collegiate Four, Kansas State took the first two spots while Kansas was just two seconds behind in third place.
"I'm not concerned with the loss to Kansas State now," said Head Coach Rob Catloth. "I'm more concerned with the result in the spring. We've made some improvements in fitness and technique. For what we're trying to accomplish, it went well."
The Jayhways are back in action next weekend at the Head of the Oklahoma in Oklahoma City, Okla.
