Community Rowing Clinic a Success
Sept. 22, 2012
Instruction at the educational event was provided by Kansas rowing head coach Rob Catloth, his staff and members of the team. The event was co-sponsored by Kansas Athletics and the Lawrence Parks and Recreation Department "It's the third year we have done it and every year it gets a little bit better. I thing it's enjoyable to the student athletes and it introduces the community to the sport of rowing and the boathouse and the river," Catloth said. "I think it was a good experience for everyone involved." The clinic hosted a wide variety of athletes, from rowers that had never rowed before to others who had been to the clinic in prior years. Three parents of current KU rowers also attended the clinic in order to increase their own knowledge about the sport. The three-hour clinic concluded with all participants and instructors forming a circle and singing the alma mater, a Kansas rowing tradition.
