Kansas Rowing Returns to Action at the Head of the Iowa
Oct. 25, 2006 LAWRENCE, Kan. - Kansas will continue the Fall season, after four weeks of rest when they travel to Iowa City, Iowa on Sunday, Oct. 29 for the Head of the Iowa. The Jayhawks hope to continue their successful fall campaign after a strong performance at the Head of the Oklahoma. When Kansas last competed, it placed first in the Collegiate Single, Collegiate Double, and the Novice Four races. The Jayhawks also fared well in the Collegiate Eights and Fours. KU placed fourth in the Collegiate Eight race and sixth in the Collegiate Four race. The Head of the Iowa will mark the first rowing competition of the year for the Novice team. The return to the Head of the Iowa is also a chance for the team to build upon last season's success at the same event. Last year, the team placed second in the Open Four, and fifth in the Open Eight, while dominating the leaderboard for the Singles events. On Sunday, Kansas will enter boats in the Novice Women's Four, the Varsity Women's Four, the Lightweight Women's Four, the Novice Women's Eight, and the Open Women's Eight.
