Kansas Rowing to Compete at Sunflower Showdown

LAWRENCE, Kan. -- Kansas rowing will conclude its Fall season Nov. 12 when it travels to Manhattan to take on the Kansas State Wildcats in the 2005 Sunflower Showdown. The Jayhawks are looking to break Kansas State's three-year win streak. The regatta will take place on the Tuttle Creek Lake Reservoir starting at 8:30 a.m. with the 2nd Varsity Eight race and conclude following the 9:15 a.m. Varsity Four race. Other races included are the 1st Varsity Eight, 1st Novice Eight and 2nd Novice Four. Last weekend, the Jayhawks excelled at the Head of the Hooch. In the Championship Double race, Kansas took three top-10 finishes, one being the second-place finish of senior Jennifer Ebel and junior Jelayna Da Silva with a time of 18:44.9. The Jayhawks also finished fourth in the Championship Four race with a time of 19:25.2. Sunday's races included senior Jennifer Ebel with the top spot for Kansas in fifth place with a time of 22:49.3 in the Championship Single race. In the Open Eight, the Jayhawks placed second and fourth with times of 18:30.0 and 18:39.6, respectively.
