Kansas Shuts Out Arkansas, 1-0
Sept. 2, 2005 LAWRENCE, Kan. - Freshman Jessica Bush notched her second straight game-winning goal to lead the University of Kansas Jayhawks (2-1-1) to a 1-0 victory over Arkansas on Friday in Lawrence, Kan. KU's defense held the Lady Razorbacks to five shots to post its second consecutive shutout. After an evenly played first half, Bush got the Jayhawks on the board in the 64th-minute. The Blue Springs, Mo., native took a pass from Nicole Cauzillo in the middle of the box and fired a shot from 15-yards out beating Arkansas goalkeeper, Carrie Dillsaver. "We played very well in the second half, we starting to click a little bit and got some things going," commented head coach Mark Francis. "We still need to be a little more consistent over 90-minutes but I thought we did some good things." KU continued to pressure Arkansas but Dillsaver turned away six shots in the match, keeping it a one-goal contest. Colleen Quinn made three saves for her second shutout of the season. Kansas will take the remainder of the weekend off before traveling to San Diego, Calif., to play in the University of San Diego Tournament. The Jayhawks will face #18 Pepperdine on Friday, Sept. 9 before meeting the host Toreros on Sunday afternoon.
